Fishing with Cormorants. Isle of Yeso. Japan
Trasfoco: Fishing
Among the countless fishing methods in the world, some are very surprising for anyone seeing them for the first time. Some of the most amazing ones are those in which fishermen use other animals to catch fish. That is the case of cormorant fishing, a method that has been practiced in regions of China and Japan for over 1,000 years now, consisting of using those seabirds to locate and catch fish, which is then extracted from their gullets using a loose snare tied near the base of the bird’s throat.
