Area K: A Political Fishing Documentary
Trasfoco: Fishing
Area K is a demilitarised marine zone isolating the Gaza strip and preventing Palestinian fishermen from entering Israel, Egypt and international waters. Its demarcation outlines a very difficult space, full of tensions derived from the Middle East conflict. But Area K is also a place where Palestinian and Israeli fishing communities try to collaborate and coexist in peace. Some Israeli settlers even try to go on with their everyday lives as if it were an idyllic place, while military forces in watchtowers look for suspicious movements. However, those moments of peace are too fragile, and blood is always on the edge of the knife or the point of the gun.
