From 1968 to 1998, Northern Ireland was the site of one of the most violent conflicts in Europe during the second half of the twentieth century. Over three thousand people, including both civil population and members of the army, died during the so-called \u2018Troubles\u2019. In the seventies, Arthur MacCaig, then a young US man of Irish descent, returned to the land of his ancestors. He soon became a renowned documentary maker, taking the Republican perspective. He settled in Europe and with the passing of time abandoned his wife and son.
