This hike is a both physical and emotional journey through the present and the past of some of Lanzarote\u2019s coastal villages. A route consisting of paths, materials and accounts from the history of \u00d3rzola, La Santa and La Ti\u00f1osa.<\/p>\n
Mario Ferrer Pe\u00f1ate has a PhD in Information Sciences and a BA in Art History and Journalism. He has penned countless articles and research papers on various aspects of Lanzarote\u2019s culture and history. For over ten years he has also collaborated closely with Memoria Digital de Lanzarote and La Casa Amarilla. This hike takes us to La Graciosa, introducing us to the island\u2019s history and ways of life in the company of some of its inhabitants. We sail towards the lower part of Risco de Famara to see the ancient salt flats and areas where, in old times, fire was used as a means of communication between the islands. And we climb up the Risco, just as so many women from La Graciosa did for decades, until we arrive to Ye, the village where they sold their fish.<\/p>\n
Gloria Cabrera has a PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of La Laguna, majoring in fishing anthropology and gender, subjects on which she has published many papers and books, including Los hombres y las mujeres de la mar.
